If you are purchasing a home with a swimming pool, a pre-purchase inspection of the swimming pool can save you from surprises later.
A pre-purchase pool inspection can save you headaches by identifying any major issues with the structure or equipment. This is a visual inspection of the pool surface to ascertain the condition, the pool coping (the edging that surrounds the pool) the pool equipment and water balance.
Swimming pools can have a range of finishes / surfaces that wear at different rates. Just like your home, the pool surface might need renovating or maintenance over time.

What is inspected in a pre-purchase swimming pool inspection?
Subject to safe and reasonable access, this inspection is a visual assessment of the following areas;
Pool equipment
Pool pump, filter, chlorinator, cleaner if applicable will be checked.
Main Drain
The condition will be checked as well as the cover.
Waterline Tiles
checked for cracked or missing tiles and calcium deposits
Pool Coping
the coping will be checked for cracks and degrading
Pool Surface
interior of pool will be visually checked for cracks, stains, blackspot and osmosis.

We had a great experience with dedant. The receptionist was extremely helpful, informative and friendly as I had never booked a pest inspection before. It was great that we could get the building and pest along with asbestos check all at the same time. Our inspector was also very informative and friendly and I feel he did a through inspection. Dedant completed a building and pest inspection for me in April 2026 and they were incredible. Would highly recommend Dedant Building & Pest Control. An appointment was made very promptly by the receptionist who was very pleasant and informative. We also attended the inspection of the home that we were going to purchase. The inspector took his time, throughly went over every detail of the home. We asked a number of questions that were answered to put our mind at ease. And to our surprise we had the full report & photos of the home later that evening.
