Recently, one of our team stopped to do some shopping at a local shopping centre in Mt Warren Park and noticed one of the trees in front of the centre had been cut down. Being the inquisitive type, he wondered why and decided to look.

He found the inside of the tree had been eaten away by termites. The termites entered from underground, up through the centre completely undetected and destroyed the structural integrity of the tree.

Termites can also access parts of your home completely in similar ways. For example, that timber pole that holds up your verandah and is in direct contact with the ground, they can come up the centre of it and quite possibly gain access to your house. They can continue to go unnoticed and cause serious damage to your property.

​This example shows why regular bi-annual or annual inspections are recommended to make sure these little masters of stealth entry don’t get a chance to destroy your home. It’s the best form of insurance for your home and gives you peace of mind.

​As mentioned, a termite inspection is a comprehensive inspection with a detailed report on the findings and treatment recommendations should termites be found.

A termite check does not do this. It is simply a visual check ​around the home, gardens. This will not accurately identify termite activity and leaves your home at serious risk.

​In addition, termite damage is typically not covered under your home buildings insurance policy.
